Overview

All hairs are not growing at the same time. The follicle grows actively in cyclic and each hair follicle behaves independently. An average of 15-20 percent of hair are in the active growth phase (Anagen stage) at any giving time. Therefore, during a laser session, only those hairs properly treated are destroyed. The duration of the alternating rest periods (Catagen and Telogen stage) can last up to six months depending of the area treated. Gradually, those follicles reactivate. Regular treatments are necessary in order to progressively target hair in the growth phase. Permanency is ultimately achieved with regular treatments. Results using the “Apogee Elite Laser System” are permanent on properly treated follicles that are producing hair during the course of treatments.

How does it work?

Hair grows in three stages. Laser technology is designed to treat hair in its anagen “active phase” of growth: Highly concentrated light is transmitted 1-5 millimeters into the skin. The light targets the melanin, or pigment, in hair follicles while they are in their active phase. The hair absorbs the light, where it is converted into heat, causing thermal damage to the follicle without harming the surrounding tissue. Only these hairs (anagen stage) potentially can be permanently destroyed. The follicle is disabled and hair re-growth is impaired.
